Pros
- Opponent of STARR testing.
- Speaks with confidence, unhesitatingly. Full of ideas.
- Very involved in school system. Knowledgeable of issues & people(former Pres of Band & Color Guard Club past 3 years; Pres of Project Prom).
- Attends School Board meetings.
- Says leadership needs to be pared down (too many) - sees the need for having the school focus on student education and teacher needs, much less on growth in administration.
- Has 3 kids in MISD schools.
- Thinks school expenses need to be reduced.
- Concerned w/high turnover rates of teachers in MISD. Wants to raise teacher salary and benefits, in an attempt to reduce loss of teachers to other school districts.
- Will make regular direct contact with students and teachers, unlike Conroe ISD that instructs Board Members to have no direct contact except with the Superintendent.
- Favors .....
- lowering administration/teacher ratio
- lowering the tax rate.
- community sponsorships & partnerships to augment the budget.
- allowing “teacher carry” for security.
- Former MUD Board Member
- Volunteers at Montgomery County Food Bank.
Cons
- Will be at odds with the ISD administration, who will try to stop her currently daily contact directly with the schools. The Magnolia ISD will certainly complain about micromanagement and interference in daily operations.
- Also not clear how to pay for teacher raises, without raising taxes
- Possibly unbalanced on the side of trades career paths versus college path.
- No experience in elected office.
- Doesn't seem to want schools to take a stand on social issues.
- Not so clear about her conservative alignment i.e. abortion & gay rights
- Seemed somewhat unfocused.
- May lack the ability to articulate a position to convince others to follow.
- Needs to understand financials better to understand how to make cuts in budger
