Pros

  • 25+ yrs of LE experience(10 yrs as constable).
  • Professional and people servant
  • Number of community based interactive programs
  • Claims to be frugal w/budget.
  • Active office, claiming 4th highest arrest rate in county, behind MCSO, Conroe PD and DPS.
  • Testified in Austin for Steve Toth's HB 1076 (Firearm protection).
  • Well known in the community.
  • Works more than 40 hours a week and spends a good amount of time on the road with his well-trained deputies
  • Strongly opposes Red Flag Laws
  • Endorsed by MCLEA.

Cons

  • Ongoing investigation into allegations of wrong doing. 411 pages of testimonials against Hayden lend truth to the charges dismissed by T-COLE (Texas Commission on Law Enforcement), some say by those higher up in government
  • Offical Oppression Case (Case Number: 18-01-0235) by Constable Hayden against (minority) Donald James Slaughter.  Here is Mr. Slaughters sworn affadavit in the case.
  • Constable Hayden's supporters accurately claim his primary opponent (Skero) has been a defendant in Federal Court on two separate occasions.  What they didn't disclose is that this can be a common theme w/some citizens looking for a payday from the county/state, but nothing came of the two cases{Goldman vs. Skero (NO. 4:14-CV-00433) Motion to Dismiss and Mutual Rlease, as well as the Pinder Case).
  •  Supporters of Haydens also claim that Skero was arrested as a juvenile. The case was dimissed. (More details on Mr. Skero's page).
  •  Constable Hayden claims to be a member of Mo. County Tea Party (one must be a dues-paying member and there's no record of Mr. Hayden's membership.  Nor has he given to the Republican Party since at least 6/26/18(the new bienium, for which I've been the elected Treasurer).
  • Overstaffed to accomplish their constitutional duties. Has too many supervisors.
  • Over the years has grown a massive bureaucracy. We elected a countywide Sheriff to do policing.
  • The constable office needs to focus on servicing the needs of the courts.
  • To accomplish the constitutional duties only needs a staff of 6 to 7 instead of the 39 employees he has now.
  • Every year in the last 3 years has added staff.  This is one reason why our county taxes are double other peer counties.
  • Need to transfer these excessive employees to Sheriff and allow him consolidate these redundant functions and gain efficiencies.
