Mike and his wife, Georgie, have been married for 47 years. He graduated from Baylor University in 1965 with a BBA majoring in accounting. He obtained his CPA certificate in 1967. He and Georgie have lived in Houston, Chicago, New York, Singapore and Vancouver (British Columbia).They moved to The Woodlands in 2008 to be closer to their two sons and their three grandchildren.

Mike retired in 2000. He has 35 years of international business operations and financial expertise as a Senior Partner with Accenture, a large international business consulting firm. During the late 70s, Mike also served as VP of Marketing and Operations for a mid-size manufacturing company. Although Mike has a strong financial and accounting background, his area of business expertise is in the area of supply change management dealing with logistics, procurement, plant scheduling and operations and materials management across a wide range of industries. Mike also served six years in the US Army Reserve and the Texas National Guard.

Upon their return to Houston in 1995, Mike and Georgie relocated to the City of Clear Lake Shores in Galveston County. While living in Clear Lake Shores, he served two years as President of the City’s Economic Development Corporation, six years on City Council and two years as Chairman of the City’s Planning and Zoning Commission. As a Council Member, he had direct responsibility for rebuilding the City’s roads. He also led several economic development efforts which led to the elimination of the City’s property taxes.

Prior to being elected to the Township Board, Mike served on the Sterling Ridge Village Association Board, the Sterling Ridge Residential Design Review Committee and the Design Standards Committee. He was also a Neighborhood Watch Coordinator for many years. In his role as a Township Director, Mike served on the Ad Hoc Transportation Committee and currently serves on the Law Enforcement Advisory Committee, Park and Recreation Advisory Committee, Investment Committee and the Audit Committee. He also serves on The Chamber of Commerce’s Mobility and Legislative Committees and as a member of the Board for the Woodlands Road Utility District.

Mike also serves as a Director and the Treasurer for The Woodlands Waterway Art Council, volunteers at the annual Waterway Art Festival. He is also a member of The Woodlands Rotary Club.

Mike and Georgie enjoy entertaining with friends, traveling, fishing and spending time with their family, especially their three grandchildren. Mr. Bass is an avid cook and gardener.

CON: 

  • Declined to Answer our questionnaire, therefore, not interviewed;
  • Voted FOR the May 9 Road Bond, including WPX and against 83% of the Woodlands Voters;
  • Pro-developer/chamber type;
  • Has publicly come out against Grassroots/Tea Parties;     
  • Sent dubious email to all township participants to only participate in Bruce Tough sponsored VAC questionnaire;  
  • His picture is on a door-hanger/flyer claiming taxes will go up 70% if TW incorporates(sponsored by TW Chamber ;
  • Purely a moderate, big government pro-developer/chamber establishment type; 
  • Was the lone director who wanted to fund Meals-on-Wheels and call it Economic Development.
