From her website.....

After earning a Bachelor's of Science degree of Interdisciplinary studies from Southwest Texas State in 1996, Amy taught for several years and then advanced into an Instructional Specialist position. Her leadership skills, work ethic, integrity and professionalism led her into a role as a national trainer and sales director where she received numerous awards.

In 2000, Amy and husband John were relocated to north Houston. Hoping that one day they would get the chance to live in the town where they planned to raise their children, Amy's dream came true in 2014 when her family moved to The Woodlands, where she has continued her active role in the community by helping to raise over $1,000,000 for local children's non-profits, and launched her real estate career.

Amy has always had a passion for fund-raising and strives to give back to her community as much as possible. She is currently co-chairing the Rotary Wine Dinner that has a goal of raising $100,000 for local scholarships and the Rotary Foundation.

She has been married to her supportive husband John, who runs his own small business, and has 2 children, Jake and Lauren, who attend CISD schools.

General

Do you think The Woodlands should become a city or remain unincorporated? Why or why not (what are some of the pro's and cons)?  And if so, when should incorporation occur and why in that time frame?

The Woodlands has an efficient form of government created by special legislation that prevents annexation by Houston and Conroe until November 2057. In the meantime, I believe our governing body should work collectively as a community to hire consultants, attorneys and experts in the areas of consideration. Incorporation is not just a why and when question. It's a how and how much will it cost the residents and business owners. We need to be fiscally responsible and dilligent in our choices in order to make those decisions. I'm highly concerned that decisions are being made due to misinformation. The Township department heads stated in a meeting on September 12, 2016 that there are many unknown factors and costs for our future incorporation. The costs will lead to taxation increase for residential and commercial properties.

Facts are necessity when dealing with budgets, future road maintenance, restructuring The Woodlands governing body, municipal structures and our law enforcement. Once we have the facts, we should listen to residents to create a timeline based on majority opinion. I believe that as governing body our leaders should devise  a strategic plan, budget and define how to transition into an Incorporated city. At that point it should be presented to the public by forum.

What are the three main attributes that make you the most qualified for this position?

The 3 main attributes that qualify me for the position of Director of The Woodlands Township are the following:

1. Education-I have a degree in Interdiscipinary studies. After 5 years of college I have studied budgets, business practices and management. All of the advanced courses attribute to assimilated knowledge that will be beneficial as a director of The Woodlands Township.

2. Leadership-I have risen to leadership in every professional position that I have held. Being a director for 90+ women as well as a national trainer and mentor allows me to have a broad perspective on needs of a community.

3. Service-Being a Rotarian, chairing multiple committees for non profits shows that I believe in service above self. In 2016 I received a Community Impact Award for events, time and efforts to raise money and awareness for local children's charities.

Are you now or have you ever done business with any township and/or county official?

No I have not done business with any township or county official.

Why are you running for this office and what 3 major goals do you want to be measured by if you are elected?

I am running for The Woodlands Township Board of Directors because I plan to be a voice for the residents and small business owners.

3 Major goals I plan to achieve are the following:

1. Education-My #1 goal is to educate the local residents on the Special Legislation we have for the most efficient form of government we have for The Woodlands.

2. Budget-Create a fiscally conservation budget based on needs and saving for future goals and unknowns. The Capital Contingency Fund is a fund not often explained to residents, but neccessary for various future needs of our community.

3. Quality of Life-My goal is to preserve the green space, trees and covenants that make The Woodlands one of the most popular places to raise a family in Texas.

What three changes would you like to see implemented by the Township?
