Questionnaire

General

This is a Republican primary race.  Do you promise, if elected, to abide by the RPT platform?  And if not, please enumerate what problems you have.

Yes

Do you support current RPT chair James Dickey in full and if not, what do you disagree with?

Yes

Did you support liberal Texas house-speaker Joe Straus?  Why or why not?

No,  I do not.  Speaker Straus needs to recognize that the strength of the Republican party lies in its core values and the people supporting the principles of the state and national Constitutions.  I do not consider him to be the leader that Texas needs in order to promote these values and principles.

Please describe what you believe are the most significant issues in this race, why and what you'll do to address them?

I believe that a precinct chair should educate the voters on the state and local issues and encorage them to vote their conscience.  Staying informed is of utmost importance when it comes to holding our elected officials accountable in regards to issues such as taxes, honest government, and the recent flooding.  These issues affect the newly formed precinct 96 and I hope to be a part of informing and helping our precinct function and vote.

Which supreme court cases should Texas just ignore?

The Federal government is limited by the Constitution and therefore any decisions by the Supreme Court should be viewed as to whether they violate States rights.  Cases are designed to be for those particular individuals and should not supersede the rights and laws of citizens of their respective states.

There's discussion about making major revisions to the RPT Platform. Please describe the nature of any major changes you support.

I am not aware of any particular major revision discussions to the platform.  I support the platform as currently written as long as it reflects the state and national constitutions.

As a Republican, if you had to give up one of the following core principles, which one would you select first and why?
a. pro-life;
b. 10% reduction in state, fed, local spending;
c. 2nd amendment;
d. illegal immigration;
e. foreign bases;
f.  10th amendment

I'd pick E.  I'm not sure of the context of foreign bases, but I see the need to minimize our exposure in foreign countries, especially when it's not in our national interest.

For what offices should term limits be implemented?

Knowing that there are still many good candidates able to run for office and the fact that many of our entrenched politicians are not performing their constitutional duties, I'd say there is a good case for term limits in all offices.  We need to get back to the idea of serving citizens who go home after a short season.  They can recommend a replacement at that time.  This limits corruption, among other problems.

What distinguishes you from your opponent?

I do not know my opponents

Please list 3 federal agencies that are popular in our culture and should be abolished

EPA, Dept. of Education, National Endowment for the Arts.

Are the United States and Texas constitutions living documents?  Please answer in the context of Progressivism versus Originalism.

There is an inherent danger in looking at our state and U.S. Constitutions as living documents.  While no one is perfect, our Founders understood human nature in areas such as banking, civil government, taxes, etc.  Their experiences and wisdom produced a form of goverment that reigns itself in and allows a naturally free people to excel.  This form of government was designed to serve its citizens then and on into the future.

Taxes

What form of federal tax law do you support and why (e.g., current, flat tax, fair tax, other)?

I support a simplified tax based primarily on consumption.  The free market is unleashed and limited gov't is funded properly this way.  Taking taxes for excessive, unconstitutional gov't. was not what our tax sytem was designed for originally.

2nd Amendment - guns

Do you believe the Second Amendment grants an individual right or a militia right?

An individual right is paramount.

10th Amendment

Please explain your interpretation of the Tenth Amendment and the principle of nullification. Do states have a right of nullification? What should the federal government do if a state attempts nullification?

The Tenth Amendment is all too often ignored.  States have the most rights as the Federal gov't is a limited entity.  States should assert these rights and their citizens should recognize and support this amendment more readily.  The Federal gov't should recognize that most of the laws it enacts inevitably violate this amendment and as such would have alot less work to do in the first place by just staying out of the way!

Other civil liberty

At what point should the "right to life" or "personhood" be granted to new human beings (e.g., at conception, 13 weeks of gestation, birth, 5 days old, 18 years old, etc)? What action, if any, will you take to reflect this in law?

Conception

Do you support or oppose federal funding for Planned Parenthood and other agencies that perform abortions, both in the U.S. and abroad (even if they use money derived from other sources)?

I oppose any funding of any agencies that perform abortions.

Education

Do you support or oppose allowing parents direct the flow of federal education funds (e.g., to their school or home school of choice)? Support? Oppose? Please explain.

Parents should be able to educate their children as they see fit.  Many parents find our current education system lacking when it comes to truly educating our children.  If taxes are taken for education, they should be used primarily at the local level and/or kept for homeschooling.    There is no need for national education initiatives or a separate Department of Education to waste these funds.  Taking taxes to fund a humanistic and socialistic school system breaks down society and is therefore not in our best interest as a state/nation.

Immigration

What, if anything, should be done to protect our borders from illegal immigration?

Our borders should be protected using local, state, and national resources that can include a wall in certain areas, necessary technology, and legal measures to stem the flow of illegal crossings.

Transportation

Do you support or oppose the referendum passed by both the MoCo GOP Executive Committee and SREC to allow voters, at the statewide level, to decide in the voting booth whether or not they want a particular toll road?  Why or why not?

I support the right to decide on individual toll road construction/implementation.  While some toll roads may be necessary, the handling of many recent toll road decisions by our politicians has been suspect, at best.

Other

What does being a conservative mean to you?

As a Christian, Texan, and American, I believe a conservative should be one who follows the Founding Fathers vision when it comes to the Constitution and Bill of Rights.  The writings of our Founders reflect the belief that the principles of godly government are a blessing to all of this nations citizens.  A moral component, based on the Bible, best serves our state and national interest.  A conservative would be one who truly values freedom, with a conscience based on Biblical and Constitutional principles.  The moral anarchy that is rampant in this nation is contrary to the values our nation is based upon.
