GOP County Chair

Montgomery County

GOP County Chair

office

The County GOP Chair (and GOP Precinct Chairs) are elected by popular vote at the Republican primary election held in March of each even-numbered year. Voters residing in each of the county’s voting precincts elect their respective Precinct Chairs. Together, they comprise the County Executive Committee(CEC). Officers are either elected or appointed, according to CEC bylaws. Ex officio members of the CEC include the SREC members in the county’s SD(s) and appointed Party officers.

Major Issues

1.  While the County GOP Chair(presiding officer) is elected across the jurisdiction of the county(like a president/governor), GOP Precinct chairs (like a legislature) are elected to represent their individual precinct jurisdiction.

2.  The chair has certain statutory responsibilities and oversees meetings, whereby the minority of chairs have their say, but the majority have their way.

3.  The majority of chairs determine the CEC bylaws, subject to US & Texas Constitutions, State Statutes and Republican Party of Texas (RPT) rules.  Roberts Rules of Order, Newly Revised (12) (RONR)also apply to the County (and Precinct) Chair's governance.

4.  County Chair Bryan Christ has continually violated many of the tenants in No. 3, including illegitimately appointing his choices for vacant chairs, instead of going through the organizations properly elected/appointed vacancy committee.  He's also doing it throuigh zoom meetings, which is not allowed under the current party bylaws.

5.  His wife is a political consultant, who uses her husband chair and consulting company to benefit her clients - an obvious conflict of interest.

6.  The State Party (Republican Party of Texas) has called County Chair Bryan Christ a failed leader.

7.  The local GOP majority has called for a VOTE OF NO CONFIDENCE and has  CENSURED Bryan Christ for not appointing legitimately appointed chairs to the Secretary of State.

8.  Chairman Christ sued his political opponent and 17 other volunteers because of their perceived threat to his power.  What kind of person sues volunteers?
