The Tax assessor-collector is responsible for:
- Calculating and collecting property tax rates for the county.
- Optionally collecting taxes for cities, schools and other local taxing entities.
- Processesing motor vehicle title transfers,
- Issuing motor vehicle and boat registration and licenses.
- Registering voters
- Collecting various other fees for the state and county.
The tax assessor-collector is elected to four-year terms.
The incumbent tax assessor-collector is Tammy McRae, who was originally appointed in 2014 and is running for re-election (unopposed in the primary).
