Questionnaire

General

What are the three main attributes that make you the most qualified for this position?

The Railroad Commission needs a successful business owner. I am the only candidate in this race with a proven track record of growing successful businesses, and those business skills can be applied, and should be applied, to the Commission.

What are the three main reasons you are running for this office? Do you see any potential conflicts of interest?

a. Protect Texas from Federal Over-reach

b. Stand up for Property Owners and Private Property Rights

c. Improve Agency Effectiveness, Accountability, and Agility

What differentiates you from your opponents?

Proven track record of growing successful businesses and personal, real-life Conservative credentials.

What is the most important problem you see that needs to be addressed by the position your running for and what do you propose to solve it?

Budget shortfall for the Commission to carry out its tasks due to a slowed oil & natural gas industry. To remedy, the Commission needs to constantly re-assess and adjust its resource distribution including, but not limited to: employee reassignment, regional office development, technology development.

Civic, Political or union organization or individuals to whom you have contributed (five years):

Numerous including, but not limited to: Dan Patrick, NRA, Greg Abbott, Ted Cruz, etc

List all individuals/groups you have represented or lobbied for before any governmental entity during the past five years.

None.

Spending

How much efficiency (savings) to the taxpayer can you introduce into the RRC?

Since most of the RRC budget comes from within (in the form of industry permits and fees) I would work to maximize RRC resources so that additional tax dollars arent requested from the Legislature to supplement any internal shortfalls.

Taxes

What are the best ways to fund government services and why?

A user-fee system is generally the best way to fund government services. This ensures that individuals who benefit from a service are responsible for paying for that same service.

Do you support or oppose a Business Tax to reduce property taxes?

Oppose

10th Amendment

What's the biggest federal over reach issue for the position you're running for?

The threat of the EPA.

Other civil liberty

Do you support spousal benefits for same-sex partners of State employees?

No

Economy

Please describe what you believe is the proper role for the state government in job creation and intervention in the economy.

I believe in hands-off government. The proper role is to allow the market to live and breath on its own, thus creating organic job growth. Government’s best role is to ensure public safety concerns are met and stay out of the way.

What side are you on in a clash between land owner and explorationists?

I am on the side of the party that is adhering to Texas law and any applicable statutes.

Environment

How would you balance the use of existing energy sources with the development of alternate energy sources in Texas?

I would like to see continued R&D related to water re-use. As for existing energy sources, there are many more to be utilized to benefit US citizens and positively impact the Texas economy.

How can companies assure nearby residents that hydraulic fracturing is safe for their drinking water.

Further research is required to adequatly answer this questions.

Other

Are you active with any Tea Party or conservative grassroots organization? If so, list which, how long and what capacity? If not, what's your opinion of Tea Party groups here as to their effectiveness?

I have been an active donor and attendee to numerous Tea Party organizations over the last several years.

What RRC energy source are you most familiar with?

I feel comfortably familiar with all of them.

What presidential candidate do you feel will best represent the USA and Texas?

Ted Cruz
